Letter from the New Mothers Matter Centre CEO: Amy Robichaud

Dear Mothers Matter Centre Community,

I am honoured to have the opportunity to join this caring and important community of individuals who are changing the lives of mothers across the country. I know that I’ll have the opportunity to connect with you all in meaningful ways in the coming months, but I did want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my gratitude to those who’ve built and

share my gratitude to those who’ve built and sustained the mission and impact of Mothers Matter Centre.

I’m daughter to Lore, granddaughter to Rae, and great granddaughter to Rita. I’ve had the privilege of knowing first hand how strong and resilient women shape their families and communities. I have been shaped by just such women.

Prior to accepting this appointment as CEO of Mothers Matter Centre, I have served as Executive Director of Dress for Success Vancouver, Director of Engagement at the Minerva Foundation for BC Women, and as a development and governance consultant to organizations such as the RBC Foundation, the Global Centre for Pluralism, and the Canadian Mental Health Association. My career has been shaped by a profound calling to advocate for equity and access for all, this calling is a gift passed down to me from my mother.

As I start this new professional role, I’m filled with gratitude to all the women who have climbed mountains in search of social and economic inclusion. I stand on their shoulders as I strive to continue this work. In particular, I want to acknowledge Debbie Bell, Founder of Mothers Matter Centre for dreaming of a Canada where every mother had the opportunity and tools to be a leader in her community and for creating an organization dedicated to making this dream a reality.

You have my promise that I’ll bring all that I have to realize the vision of this organization by supporting our staff team, working with our partners right across this land, championing reconciliation through actively decolonizing our work, and learning from and caring for everyone in our community.

In gratitude and hope,
