Historic Government Action on Gender Equality Recognizes the Central Role of Mothers in Canada’s Future

Vancouver, BC – October 29, 2025 — Mothers Matter Canada commends the Government of Canada for its landmark investment of more than $660 million to advance equality and safety for women and 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

“This announcement is a critical step toward building a Canada where every mother and caregiver, no matter where they live or what their circumstances, can thrive,” said Amy Robichaud, CEO of Mothers Matter Canada. “Investing in equality - in women, mothers, and families is investing in strengthening our nation’s future. This is the first, tangible acknowledgement we’ve seen from this government of this fact.”

The government’s commitment of $382.5 million over five years toward gender equality will help strengthen the social and economic supports that enable women to fully participate in society. For Mothers Matter Canada, this investment reflects growing recognition that maternal well-being and equitable access to care are essential pillars of a successful, strong economy and country.
