Recognizing Immigrant Skills in Education (RISE)
The Recognizing Immigrant Skills in Education (RISE) program pilots a barrier-free path to employment for immigrant and refugee women as certified Early Childhood Education (ECE) workers. This project will bring together non-profit, private, and academic partners to develop an innovative path for HIPPY/SMART Home Visitors to receive an ECE certificate based on recognition of their prior education and experience and the skills and training gained in their job as Home Visitors.

Skill-Training & Learning
Many newcomer women arrive in Canada with higher education degrees and prior work experience. In partnership with Vametrics and an academic institution, Mothers Matter Canada will pilot two cohorts of HIPPY/SMART Home Visitors, programs licensed by Mothers Matter Canada and delivered by over 40 program delivery partners across Canada. We will facilitate their educational and prior experience equivalencies, and provide remaining additional education, training, and work experience for them to meet Canadian ECE certification standards.
Employment
RISE addresses the gap between newcomers' skills and education and the shortage of ECE workers in Canada through innovative approaches to streamline and improve credential and work experience recognition. It aims to connect skilled newcomer women to ECE jobs, reduce the labour shortage, and promote economic independence and meaningful employment for newcomers.
